Dear Bend High Alumni and Friends,
The Bend High Alumni Association is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2003 to connect the past, present and future of Bend High School. The centennial birthday of Bend High was celebrated in 2007. There have been several different building locations in the past century and there have been a couple of name changes. However, one thing has remained the same through the years, Bend High does an excellent job educating young people. It is truly a school that has raised a city. Today, the teachers at Bend Senior High continue to inspire, create, educate and care about the kids of our community.
In a perfect world, there would be no need for an Alumni Association, save for the occasional social get-together. Unfortunately, ours is not a perfect world. So it is time for the Alumni and friends of Bend Senior High to give something back to the school that has done so much for so many. There is no need to repeat, yet again, how the current budget crisis has affected our public schools. It is time to do something. Many, acting as one, can make a difference. If 1000 Bend High Alumni joined the Bend High Alumni Association at $10.00 per person, annually, the school would get $10,000 a year from its alumni! What a wonderful legacy for every alumni and graduate of Bend High School.
In the first year of the Alumni Association, $5,000 was given to the programs at Bend High from the Alumni Association. The money was given out in the form of grants to the following departments: Mathematics, Science, Business, Fine Arts, Videography, Yearbook, Activities and the senior class. It is the goal of the Board of the Alumni Association to double that amount this year.
